ECC WG FM PT22 meeting - April 2018

Project team 22 (PT22) of the CEPT working group on Frequency Management (WG FM), focusing on spectrum monitoring and control and enforcement, met last 17-20 April in Copenhagen. The meeting was attended by a total of 39 delegates from 22 countries and three organisations (European Communications Office (ECO), Orange/European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

Among other matters, the revision of Recommendation REC(05)01 on “Harmonisation of automatic measuring methods and data transfer for frequency band registration”, was completed, coordinated by Portugal, and forwarded for WG FM approval. Also, work continued on the revision of Recommendation ECC/REC(12)03 on “Determination of the radiated power through field strength measurements in the frequency range from 400 MHz to 6000 MHz”.

The figures for the amounts of detected interference were summed up and a new version of the European questionnaire to gather the respective statistical data prepared. Finally, the problem of interference in the global navigation by satellite system (GNSS) caused by jammer-type equipment and in weather radars was again studied. Also considered was the possibility of using unmanned aircraft (drones) to make measurements and to share experience in resolving various kinds of interference.

The next meeting will be held at ECC headquarters in Copenhagen on 11-14 September 2018.
