CEF-Telecom Committee meeting - April 2018

The Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Committee held a meeting last 26 April in Brussels, with participation of the member states of the European Union and European Commission. The aim was to carry out the mid-term analysis of CEF implementation with respect to the telecom sector.

The debate was also polarised by questions concerning the WiFi4EU initiative, whose candidacy phase begins on 15 May; the EC furnished details about short and medium term plans at this level. Also regarding WiFi4EU, the EC highlighted the fact that in percentage terms and up to the present, Portugal compares very well with the other member states with respect to municipalities already registered (ranking second).

There was also time to debate other initiatives such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, next generation internet, digital skills, high performance computing, the Digital Day conference and the ICT Event 2018.
