Changes to the National Table of Frequency Allocations

By determination of 26 April 2018, ANACOMapproved the application of Implementing Decisions (EU) 2017/1438 of 4 August, and 2017/1483 of 8 August, by incorporation into the National Table of Frequency Allocations (NTFA).

Implementing Decision (EU) 2017/1438 of 4 August amends Decision 2007/131/EC on the harmonised use of radio spectrum for equipment using ultra-wideband technology in the Community.

In detail, this Decision replaces all references to European Standard (EN) 302 498-1 and EN 302 498-2, as well as to EN 302 435-1 and EN 302 435-2, both in the Decision itself and in its Annex, with reference to the new harmonised standard EN 302 065-4. It subscribes to the previous standards, following the transition from the R&TTE Directive (Directive 1999/5/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 1999 on radio equipment and telecommunications terminal equipment and the mutual recognition of their conformity) to Directive 2014/53/EUhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1305232 on the harmonisation of the laws of the Member States relating to making radio equipment available on the market and repealing Directive 1999/5/EC), which triggered an update of all the harmonised standards to meet the requirements of the RED Directive.

Implementing Decision (EU) 2017/1483 of 8 August amends Decision 2006/771/EC on the harmonisation of the radio spectrum for use by low-power equipment and repeals Decision 2006/804/EC.

In particular, this Decision replaces the Annex to Decision 2006/771/EC with the text of its own Annex and repeals, with effect from 1 January 2018, Decision 2006/804/EC. It further establishes that, by 2 May 2018, Member States shall submit a report on the application of the Decision to the European Commission.

Furthermore, this revision will allow new opportunities for low-power and short-range devices as well as the updating of the spectrum usage conditions by these devices in the 863-868 MHz band.
