17th Global Symposium for Regulators - July 2017

The 17th Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) was held last 11-14 July in Nassau, Bahamas, with the theme of ‘Living in a World of Digital Opportunities’. It focused on exploring potential collaboration among various stakeholders to create an environment that drives innovation and investment.

This ITU event gathers regulators and other global players, promoting the sharing of ideas and experience on major and currently relevant issues in the sector.

In the scope of its participation in the Association of Communication and Telecommunication Regulators from the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (ARCTEL-CPLP), ANACOM was present on the panels that focused on ‘Roaming in the Digital World’ and ‘ICT Regulatory Tracker: tracking the evolution of regulation’. ANACOM also attended the regulatory association meeting on behalf of ARCTEL-CPLP.

At the end of the GSR session several best practices were also approved, drawn up based on discussions held at the symposium and prior contributions from member states. Those best practices concern the identification of innovative policies meant to remove barriers and the pursuit of a digital world accessible to all.
