TSAG meeting - Geneva

The fifth meeting of ITU TSAG was held last 18-22 July in Geneva. The gathering’s main goal was to organise the sector’s work to ensure that the 2016 World Telecommunications Standardisation Assembly (WTSA-16) runs as smoothly as possible, given the ambitious anticipated agenda.

Standing out are the standardisation sector’s restructuring and pressing matters to be studied during the upcoming 2017-2020 study period. Issues associated to coordination and collaboration among members, the need to and challenge of increasing the quality of inputs for production of strong global standards and how the sector’s activities can support the sustainable development objectives in the WSIS scope were also debated at length.

The next TSAG meeting is provisionally scheduled for May 2017 and will be the first after WTSA-16 (24 October to 3 November in Tunisia).
