27th BEREC plenary meeting and IRG General Assembly - Vienna


The second 2016 meeting of the BEREC Board of Regulators (BoR), Management Committee (MC) and Office, as well as the General Assembly (GA) of the Independent Regulators Group (IRG), were held on 2-3 June in Vienna.

Highlights of the various issues dealt with at BoR level include the approval for public consultation of the guidelines for implementing the net neutrality rules set out in the Telecoms Single Market Regulation and in the documents “Draft BEREC common position on layer 2 wholesale access products” and “Draft BEREC report on challenges and drivers of NGA rollout and infrastructure competition”. Also approved for publication and forwarding to the Commission was BEREC’s contribution regarding the public consultation on evaluation of the recommendation on termination rates.

At MC level a number of administrative issues concerning how the Office functions were considered.

Administrative issues were also dealt with in the IRG GA, which also debated the 2017 budget and the topics of IRG workshops to be held during this year.

On the day before the plenary session, 1 June 2016, BEREC also held a workshop on next generation access (NGA) networks, during which the chair of the ANACOM board of directors, Fátima Barros, gave a presentation on implementation of NGA networks in Portugal.
