The project team on Number Portability (PT NP) of the ECC working group on Numbering and Networks (WG NaN) met last 14-15 June in Moscow, at the invitation of the Russian regulator (Central Research Institute of Communications).
This team produces studies, reports and recommendations on aspects associated to number portability and operator switching.
The meeting served to discuss key aspects regarding elaboration of the following documents:
- ECC recommendation on use of calling line identification;
- Report analysing how to facilitate the switch of machine-to-machine services provider and competition in that sector, using the over-the-air method.
The Russian regulator presented the situation and solutions used to implement portability in its country.
This working group’s next meeting is scheduled for October 2016.
