Regulatory Impact Analysis - Objectives, Methodologies and Relevant Case Studies in the Electronic Communications Sector

Studies and reports.

ANACOM has conducted a study on Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA), a methodology that seeks to define public policy and regulatory decisions.

The study identifies the objectives to be achieved through RIA, implementation methodologies and existing advantages and disadvantages in terms of electronic communications markets and their regulation. It also analyses case studies related to RIA implementation at the European Commission, and in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The study concludes that the principles of RIA are already broadly followed by ANACOM in its regulatory decisions and other decisions impacting the market.
