Portugal takes over as Chairman of Com-ITU (CEPT)

Portugal (Manuel Costa Cabral, ANACOM) has been elected Chairman of the Committee for ITU Policy (Com-ITU), which is part of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT). The position also includes the role of one of the three co-Presidents of CEPT under the new CEPT Presidency model.

The election took place during the last meeting of the Committee, which was held from 23 to 25 September 2015 in Lisbon, where the Portuguese candidate for the office ran against a Polish candidate, Wojciech Berezowski. Manuel Costa Cabral will therefore take over from Marcin Krasuski (Poland), who decided to step down after completing his first mandate.

During the 3-year term (renewable), the Chairman will be responsible for directing the Committee, whose mission is to ensure coordination of CEPT's engagement with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

The Vice-Chairmen will be appointed at the next Com-ITU meeting scheduled for January 2016.
