The European Commission is conducting a public consultation, in the context of Directive 93/83/ECC of 27 September 1993, on the coordination of certain rules concerning copyright and rights related to copyright applicable to satellite broadcasting and cable retransmission.
The consultation, which closes on 16 November 2015, seeks to assess the current rules and to compile views on the possibility of extending the Directive to services provided over the Internet (in light of market and technological developments), with the objective of contributing to the Digital Single Market Strategy (DSM).
