ANACOM is celebrating its 25th anniversary today, 6 November, marking the day in 1989 that the first management board of Instituto das Comunicações de Portugal (ICP), as ANACOM was then known, took office.
To mark the anniversary, ANACOM has organised several initiatives, including:
- a special edition of its Spectru newsletter, available from today, reporting on 25 years of regulating electronic and postal communications in Portugal;
- ANACOM's seventh international conference, which took place on 22 September - "Consolidation in the telecommunications business - trends and new challenges"; the conference discussed the wave of mergers that has been seen sweeping Europe and the implications for regulation. It also traced the evolutionary scenario of the sector over the past 25 years.
