ANACOM is celebrating its 25th anniversary today, 6 November, marking the day, in 1989, on which the first Management Board of Instituto das Comunicações de Portugal (ICP), as ANACOM was then known, took office.
To celebrate its anniversary, ANACOM has arranged a number of initiatives, including:
- a special edition of its Spectru newsletter (available from today), looking back over 25 years of electronic and postal communications in Portugal;
- the seventh International ANACOM Conference, which took place on 22 September on the theme "Consolidation in the telecommunications sector - trends and new challenges". The Conference addressed the implications for regulation of a wave of corporate mergers sweeping Europe and looked at how the sector has evolved over the last 25 years.
