European Commission publishes guidance on the consumer rights directive

The European Commission has published guidelines for the interpretation of Directive 2011/83/EU of 25 October 2011 on consumer rights, which entered into force on 13 June in the Member States of the European Union (EU).

This Directive seeks to contribute to the proper functioning of the internal market by approximating certain aspects of Member States' legislation, particularly as regards pre-contractual information, formal requirements and the right to cancel contracts concluded at a distance or outside the trader's business premises.
