By determination of 21 March 2014, ANACOM has approved the final decision on the methodology for establishing and reviewing reference speeds associated with coverage obligations in the 800 MHz band and on the corresponding obligations of information, and also on the methodology for verifying compliance with coverage obligations and corresponding information requirements.
Coverage obligations are part of ANACOM's regulatory objective of protecting the interests of citizens and consumers in different geographical areas of the country, pursuant to the provisions of point c) of paragraph 1 and of paragraph 4 of article 5 of Lei das Comunicações Eletrónicas (Electronic Communications Law). The goal is to foster mass, widespread access to mobile broadband, contributing to Portugal's sustainable and cohesive development, to the dissemination of the benefits inherent to the information society and to reducing the extent of info-excluded areas.
