ITU workshop on regulatory and economic aspects of roaming services - Geneva

Geneva hosted last 23-24 September a workshop on regulatory and economic aspects of roaming services, organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in coordination with the Telecommunications Standardisation Sector (ITU-T). The workshop was addressed to representatives of governments, regulatory authorities and operators.

The event's main purpose was to go over developments in international roaming services, specifically examining the main economic and regulatory steps taken to lower prices and foster competition in this market.

The workshop was based on presentation of the ITU study on "International Mobile Roaming Services: regulatory and economic aspects". Other presentations were given and discussions held among various sector representatives concerning best practices and recommendations that have positively influenced roaming services (lower prices and development of competition and user protection).
