Amendments to NTFA under consultation

By determination of 27 June 2013, ANACOM has approved a draft decision to amend the National Table of Frequency Allocations (NTFA) - 2013 addendum.

The NTFA must be made public and kept up-to-date. As such, in accordance with its remit, ANACOM has undertaken a revision of the version currently in force and has found it necessary to make a number of changes, both as regards the availability of frequencies and as regards the conditions governing the use of said frequencies. These changes include:

  • The availability of the 17.8-18.6 GHz and 18.8 19.3 GHz / 27.6 28.4 GHz and 28.6-29.1 GHz frequency bands for the fixed satellite services, allowing the operation of electronic communication services and networks (publicly available and non-publicly available);

  • Bringing annex 4 of the NTFA - licence exempt uses - into line with Commission Decision 2006/771/EC of 8 December 2011 on the harmonisation of the radio spectrum for use by short-range devices, with amendments;

  • Availability of 472-479 kHz frequency band for the amateur service and alteration of conditions governing access to the 50-52 MHz and 1270-1300 MHz bands (also for the amateur service);

  • Availability of 5091 5150 GHz frequency band for the mobile aeronautic service, making provision for band applications.

This draft decision is submitted to the general consultation procedure as provided for under the Lei das Comunicações Eletrónicas (Electronic Communications Law), whereby interested parties are given a period of 20 working days in which to comment. Responses to the consultation should therefore be sent no later than 26 July 2013 by email to adenda2013.qnaf@anacom.ptmailto:adenda2013.qnaf@anacom.pt1.

Once the consultation process has been concluded, the contributions received will be made public. Interested parties should therefore also submit a non-confidential version of their responses excluding items considered confidential for the purposes of publication on this website.
