New Roaming tariffs

New Roaming tariff caps entered into force on 1 July 2013, applying to the retail tariffs charged for the "Euro-voice tariff", "Euro-SMS tariff" and "Euro-Data tariff", in accordance with the provisions of the third Roaming Regulation, adopted by the Council of the European Union on 30 May 2012, and applicable to the European Economic Area1 (EEA). The new tariff caps reflect the annual reductions determined under the regulation.

The caps applying to the Euro-voice, SMS and data (Internet and MMS) tariffs for intra-EU/EEA communications are now as follows:

  • Calls made - 0.24 euros per minute (maximum price excluding VAT);
  • Calls received - 0.07 euros per minute (maximum price excluding VAT);
  • SMS sent - 0.08 euros (maximum price excluding VAT);
  • MMS and Internet - 0.45 euros per Megabyte (maximum price excluding VAT).

Providers are required to offer their customers at least one "Euro-voice tariff", "Euro-SMS tariff" and "Euro-data tariff" in accordance with these caps. However, they are not prohibited from offering other tariffs for intra-EU/EEA communications in addition to the Eurotariffs.

In cases where customers do not opt for a specific tariff, the Eurotariff (voice, SMS and data) is applied by default. Users may sign up to or discontinue any of these Eurotariffs whenever they want and without charge.
