DTT - DTT co-payment for areas of satellite reception (DTH)

The co-payment programme intended to ensure the equivalence of costs between those living in an area receiving the digital television signal by terrestrial means or by satellite will remain in force until 2023.

According to this programme, the price of the satellite kit (DTH) is defined by reference to the average sale price of DTT set-top-boxes in the previous six months. This price currently stands at EUR 30. The aim is to ensure that those living in areas of terrestrial coverage or in areas of satellite coverage bear equivalent costs to adjust to the digital television.

This price is valid for up to two satellite decoders per home with no pay-TV services. In the case of the Autonomous Regions, only users that merely receive RTP1 and the regional channel of the respective region (RTP Açores or RTP Madeira) are eligible.

Interested parties may purchase from PT Comunicações a DTH kit, which includes the DTH decoder, a remote control, connection cables and a smartcard, by either:

  • Ordering the DTH Kit and collecting the equipment within 5 working days,  for EUR 30 or

  • Taking the kit home immediately for EUR 77 and receiving later a reimbursement amounting to EUR 47, the cost effectively borne thus being EUR 30.

This programme is universally applied, as it is not related to one’s social and economic situation.
