EMERG plenary meeting - Lisbon

The plenary meeting of the Euro-Mediterranean Regulators Group (EMERG) was held last 20-21 February in Lisbon.

This was the first initiative organised under ANACOM's (year 2013) presidency and was attended by representatives from 14 Mediterranean region electronic communications sector regulators (including BEREC members and regulators from North Africa and the Middle East) and from the European Commission.

Among other points, the plenary session's agenda covered the future of EMERG, continuation of European Commission financing in the new multiannual 2014-2020 financial framework, the 2013 working programme, approach recommendations for licensing and market access and retail price regulation, as well as issues associated to the group's internal organisation.

The meeting resulted in the designation of Jordan's regulator (TRC - Telecommunications Regulatory Commission) to be a Group vice-president in 2013.
