The CERP working group in charge of European co-ordination for Universal Postal Union (UPU) issues, WG UPU, met last 3-4 September in the German city of Mainz, chaired by Norway.
The Association of European Public Postal Operators (PostEurop) and the European Commission (EC) attended as observers. Portugal was among the 16 countries also participating.
The group examined proposals for the 25th UPU Congress (held from 24 September to 15 October 2012 in Doha, Qatar), paying particular attention to the ones that may have the most impact for European policymakers and regulators.
It was agreed that the group would hold an ad hoc meeting during the UPU Congress, if necessary, as was a co-ordination/communication mechanism via electronic means and for local contact between its members.
The date and place of the next regular WG UPU meeting has yet to be determined, though it should be held before the next UPU Council of Administration (CA) meeting on 3-5 April 2013, whose preparation will be the main agenda point.
