ANACOM launches campaign on portability

/ Updated on 04.10.2012

ANACOM is today, 1 October, launching an information campaign targeting the general public, with the aim of raising awareness about Portugal's new rules governing portability. This follows the entry into force, on 13 September, of Regulation no. 114/2012 of 13 March.

This campaign focuses on radio as a means of communicating to the public at large, and will also use the print press, seeking to:

  • make the public aware that the transfer of fixed and mobile numbers must be completed within one working day following the day that the portability request, properly accompanied by the necessary items, is submitted to the new provider (except in some specific situations, as defined in the regulation, where the process can take up to 3 working days or has to be concluded as quickly as possible);

  • alert consumers as to their right to receive compensation from the new provider of 2.50 euros, per number and per each full day of delay, where there is a delay in the implementation of portability, and also to claim other compensation, if this service is not delivered in accordance with the conditions defined by the regulation.
