Making mobile phones and services accessible for persons with disabilities

This report highlights the importance of making mobile technologies and services more accessible to people with special needs, enabling access to new communication opportunities.

According to the study, "digital accessibility" remains a relatively undeveloped segment of the market, offering mobile service providers, manufacturers and smart phone application developers substantial commercial opportunities. The expansion of this market ensures digital inclusion for people with special needs, enhancing their ability to communicate, to access information and control their environment.

The report is published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in cooperation with G3ict - The Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies - whose mission is to promote the ICT accessibility dispositions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
