On 11 July 2012, the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) published an opinion on the notification issued by the European Commission (EC) to the Czech Republic pursuant to article 7 of the Framework Directive.
The EC expressed serious doubts about the proposal presented by the Czech regulator (Czech Telecommunication Office - CTU) in reviewing the wholesale broadband access market (market 5) and initiated a phase II investigation. As such, the draft amending regulation was submitted to discussion, following the procedures stipulated under the Framework Directive.
The document now published by BEREC results from close collaboration with the Commission in reviewing these matters.
