Workshop on ''Apportionment of Revenues and International Internet Connectivity'' - Geneva

Portugal took part in the ITU-organised workshop on the "Apportionment of Revenues and International Internet Connectivity", held in Geneva last 23-24 January. The aim of the workshop was to discuss the issue of revenue sharing in international telecommunications services, including international internet connectivity, as well as possible application of the concept of network externalities.

The subjects discussed may eventually play a key role at the World Conference on International Telecommunications to be held on 3-14 December in Dubai, where the International Telecommunications Regulation review process will be completed.

Speakers at the workshop included various representatives of governments, regulatory bodies (including Brazil's ANATEL and the UK's Ofcom) and operators (such as Telefónica).
