The project team on Number Portability (PT NP) of the Numbering and Networks working group (WG NaN) held a meeting last 2-3 March at the Portuguese Communications Foundation in Lisbon. This team’s aim is to study different aspects associated to portability in general, particularly operator portability, and to exchange information with regulators. The work is normally translated in the form of reports and/or recommendations. The following issues were debated at this meeting: compensations due to users for delays in portability and for undue portability; impact of portability between services; and portability efficiency. The work is giving priority to production of a report on compensations and a document containing proposals on various portability aspects, including procedures, which favour portability efficiency.
