PT BEREC-RSPG meeting - Brussels

Brussels hosted last 29 March a meeting of the joint project team (PT) of the Radio Spectrum Policy Group (RSPG) and the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC), PT BEREC-RSPG, which was co-chaired by AGCOM (Italy) and BNetzA (Germany).

Chaired by AGCOM, the meeting saw finalisation of the proposed report on "Infrastructure and spectrum sharing in mobile/wireless networks"; put forward for approval at the next BEREC and RSPG meetings. The report reviews the current status of the kinds of sharing agreements existing in Europe, applicable regulation, available technical solutions and the financial impact of each sharing type. The report also examines the challenges affecting competition and lists some of the criteria to consider when analysing possible distortion or hindering of competition due to sharing agreements.

In the wake of the decision made at the last RSPG and BEREC meetings, and now chaired by BNetzA, the group began the report titled "Economic and social value of spectrum", which should be finished in November of this year. The work for this report will essentially be conducted electronically. Meetings will nevertheless be held with the physical presence of those involved to finalise the report versions to present to BEREC and the RSPG.
