Objectives

ICP- Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (ICP-ANACOM) instituted in 2011, the "ANACOM Research Award - ICTs", hereinafter referred to as "Award".

The Award aims to encourage, at national level, the completion and publication of scientific papers in the areas of economy, information and communication technologies (ICT), electronic communications, postal services and e-commerce, stimulating creativity, innovation, originality and analytical rigour in research work.

Scope

The Award will be given to the best paper presented at each annual edition of the Workshop on the Economics of ICT, containing important contribution to the development of scientific knowledge in the following areas:

a) Electronic communications;

b) Postal Services;

c) Electronic Commerce.

Award

The value of the Award will be € 3,000 (three thousand euros) and will be paid by check, by ICP-ANACOM, to the lead author of the awarded paper or papers (in the last case it will be equitably distributed among the winning entries).

On the proposal of the judging panel, duly substantiated, the Award may be unassigned particularly given the quality requirements, credibility and alignment with the objectives of the Award.

Announcement and delivery

The decision to attribute the Award will be announced and publicized on the websites of ICP – ANACOM and of the Workshop on the Economics of ICT and will likewise be disseminated through the media.

The Award will be presented in a public ceremony at the end of each annual edition of the Workshop on the Economics of ICTs.

Applications

Applications to the Award are open to any individual person carrying out their activity in Portugal or abroad, excluding members of the Jury of the Contest and any other persons who may be involved in the evaluation and classification of the papers.

Applications may be submitted individually or collectively.

Original works will be accepted – accepted for presentation at the Workshop on the Economics of ICTs - which may not have been published until the date of its presentation.

Works must be submitted in English or Portuguese.

The evaluation criteria focus on works that stand out for its originality, contribution to the development of scientific knowledge, improved knowledge of the industry, topicality and in-depth development and analysis.

Applications may be sent 60 days prior to the date of the Workshop on the Economics of ICTs, to Premio.WorkshopICTs@anacom.ptmailto:premio.workshopicts@anacom.pt, by registered mail with advice of delivery, express mail with registration date by the deadline indicated, to:

Mandatory elements of the application process

a) Registration form, available on the website of ICP - ANACOM at www.anacom.pthttps://www.anacom.pt, duly completed and signed by the author, or team representative when the work is collective;

b) Paper in electronic format (pdf) up to 30 pages, with title page including author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), postal address and e-mail, title of the paper, a summary (up to 600 words), keywords and JEL classification codes.

Decision process

The decision to attribute the Award (including any honourable mentions) will be the responsibility of an independent judging panel of variable composition created for this purpose.

The judging panel shall be composed of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ICP – ANACOM and members of the Scientific Committee for the Workshop on the Economics of ICTs chosen for their high scientific reputation in relevant areas.

The members of the jury cannot be substituted. The jury will decide by simple majority of its members highlighting for the selection of the award paper, the following characteristics, among others: originality, relevance, practical application, topical and pertinence of the theme, strengthen development, associated research work and clarity of exposition. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of ICP-ANACOM has a casting vote in the event of a tie.

The decision of the judging panel of the Award is not liable to objection or appeal.

Final provisions

ICP-ANACOM reserves the right to publish papers presented for competition.

In the case of publication in journals and science magazines, the authors of the winning papers must state that they have been awarded the ANACOM AWARD -  Economics of ICTs or an honourable mention.

Copies of the papers presented in the competition will not be returned, remaining in the possession of ICP- ANACOM.

ICP- ANACOM reserves the right to suspend or terminate the award with a minimum period of six months of the relevant annual edition of the Workshop on the Economics of ICTs.
