Changes on how ERG operates approved

The European Commission approved Decision 2004/641/EC, of 14 September, which changes Decision 2002/627/EC, of 29 July, that established the European Regulators Group (ERG) for electronic communications networks and services. This new Decision introduces changes to the ERG objectives, clarifying them, and to the respective composition, reducing it to a representative per each European Union member-State, corresponding to the National Regulatory Authority (NRA) “(...) charged with the day-to-day supervision of the market for electronic communications networks and services”.

Apart from its current duties, ERG will advise and assist “(...) the Commission in matters related to electronic communications networks and services in its competence field, by itself or upon request by the Commission”. As far as its composition is concerned, this Decision identifies, in a list attached hereto, the NRA that integrates the ERG, ANACOM representing Portugal in this group.
