New Members of ANACOM’s Management Board

The Council of Ministers’ meeting on 10 September approved the appointment of Pedro Duarte Neves and Teresa Pintado Maury as Chairman and Member, respectively, of ANACOM’s Management Board. Pedro Duarte Neves has been a member of this body since 30 July this year, and now becomes its Chairman. Teresa Pintado Maury has been Deputy Mayor of Lisbon and was also city councillor for the areas of auditing, finance, modernisation of administration and information management, procurement, information and customer service.

Regarding new developments in the communications sector, the organic law of the 16th Constitutional Government was approved, under the terms of Decree-Law no. 215-A/2004, of 3 September, which  establishes the framework for the essential instruments to promote the basic goals of governmental action, already specified in this Government’s action programme. In particular, it is set up the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MOPTC), with the Minister being supported by the Secretary of State Assistant for Public Works and by the Secretary of State for Transport and Communications. Under the terms of this law, ANACOM moves from the former Ministry of the Economy to the MOPTC, which is also responsible for business-related bodies from the State sector in the domains of postal and telecommunications services.

The Minister for Public Works, Transport and Communications also oversees ANACOM’s operational and asset management responsibilities, defining guidelines and priority areas for action in conjunction with the Minister of State for the Presidency.
