Mobile networks - portability notice desactivation


ANACOM has received several requests for clarification on the procedures that should be followed by users to deactivate and reactivate the online message, which informs which is the new network to which the dialled number belongs, available in national voice calls from mobile telephone service operators’ networks to ported numbers.

Since 30 June 2003 that, pursuant to determination of 27 February 2003, mobile telephone service operators provide this message online free of charge. The same determination foresees that, whenever technically feasible, these operators should implement solutions that allow for the online audible message suppression, provided that the caller customer wishes so and with no charge whatsoever to him.

In this context, we hereby disclose the available information on Optimus, Vodafone and TMN procedures, to make deactivation or reactivation of this message possible free of charge.

Optimus

The Optimus customer will have to:

 

1) Dial 1242 (automatic answering service);

 

2) Select option 2 (activation option / deactivation of portability message);

 

3) Select, then, option 1 (option to deactivate portability message);

4) Confirm his option, dialling again option 1).

The Optimus customer will have to:

 

1) Dial 1242 (automatic answering service);

 

2) Select option 2 (activation option / deactivation of portability message);

 

3) Select, then, option 2 (option to activate portability message);

4) Confirm his option, dialling again option 2).

Vodafone

The Vodafone customer will have to:

 

Dial 1278. He will hear the following message: ''Vodafone, the portability message was deactivated'':

The Vodafone customer will have to:

 

Dial again 1278. In this case, the following message will be available: ''Vodafone, the portability message was activated''.

TMN

For technical reasons, TMN does not provide this functionality at the moment. The operator foresees its implementation in the second semester of 2005.
