Combating spam under debate

In order to determine, by the end of this year, the possible adoption of corrective or additional measures to combat unsolicited electronic communications (spam), a public consultation was launched, in the form of a questionnaire, by the Directorate-General Information Society of the European Commission and the EU Dutch Presidency. The Commission appointed also a workshop on this subject, scheduled for 15 November, where the contributions received from this public consultation will be discussed as well as the possible scenarios of the action to be followed in the future.

This public consultation follows the Communication adopted by the European Commission in January this year, which identified several actions and initiatives to be developed to combat this type of electronic communications.
