Results of the 2006 letter-writing competition

''I am writing to tell you how mail helps me to get in touch with the World'' was the theme of the 2006 letter-writing competition, a joint initiative of ANACOM and CTT - Correios de Portugal, aimed at young people aged 9 to 15 and living in Portugal.

430 letters were received this year, 314 of which were considered valid.

The winners of the two age groups were:

1st Age Group (9-11 years): Miguel António Direito Pintão Pereira Melo, from Palmela;
2nd Age Group (12-15 years): Catarina Bastos Cardoso, from Barreiro.

The notes of honour were awarded to Inês Bravo Lopes, from Sesimbra, and Andreia Filipa dos Santos Martins, from Queluz.

The winning letter will represent Portugal at the International Letter-Writing Competition, organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU). The authors of the winning letters will receive a 1.000€ prize in Savings Certificates, at the World Post Day ceremony, on 9 October.
