The European Commission (EC) has issued a Recommendation on safe and efficient in-vehicle information and communication systems. This recommendation, published on 6 February updates the European Statement of Principles on human machine interface.
In this Recommendation, no. 2007/78/EC of 22 December 2006, the Commission calls upon the industries which design and/or provide and/or fit in-vehicle information and communication systems and upon professional organisations related to transport to comply with the updated European Statement of Principles. It also calls upon EU Member States to monitor respective application and use. Member States are also asked to report back to the Commission on the application of the principles contained in the declaration, within 18 months of its publication.
