Seminar on postal studies - Brussels

Brussels hosted last 8 June a seminar to present the current status of the studies on “Main Developments in the Postal Sector, 2008-2010” and “External Dimension of the EU Postal Acquis”, both promoted by the European Commission (EC).

The first study is being produced by Copenhagen Economics. It examines development in the European Union’s postal sector from 2008 to 2010 with respect to several topics of interest for the sector, specifically associated to transposition of the 3rd Postal Directive, and is the fourth study in a series promoted by the EC with the same goal.

The second study is conducted by WIK Consult in partnership with James I. Campbell. It focuses mainly on relations between the European Union and third countries and international organisations, including defence/presentation of the community regulatory network and co-ordination between the EC and member states at that level. Highlights include relations with the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and World Trade Organisation (WTO) in matters associated to customs and international trade agreements.
