At the invitation of the RRT (Lithuanian sector regulator), Vilnius hosted last 16-17 June a meeting of the working team PT2-TRIS (Technical Regulation and Interconnection Standards). This PT produces reports and studies concerning technical aspects in different areas, such as convergence, interconnection and interoperability between distinct networks and services.
The following subjects were debated at this meeting:
- Location-finding and emergency service in the case of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology;
- Aspects associated to the European Commission recommendation on next generation access (NGA) networks;
- Analysis of the European discussion on network neutrality.
Presentations were also given on Very-high-bitrate Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) technology by the operators Tele Denmark Communications (Denmark) and Deutsche Telekom (Germany).
