ANACOM has given approval, by determination of 29 March 2007, to a draft decision on telephone directories and information services within the scope of the universal service.
This decision sets out that Optimus and PT Comunicações and that Vodafone Portugal and PT Comunicações take such steps as may be necessary to reach an agreement on the format and the conditions applicable to the provision of relevant information about subscribers who have expressed a wish that their data be included in the directories and information services within the scope of the universal service.
The decision further sets out that the companies concerned shall send copies of the agreements reached to ANACOM. In the event that no agreement is made, the companies concerned shall send to this Authority, detailed evidence of the steps taken, of the difficulties that stand in the way of such agreement being made and of the means by which they believe that such obstacles could be surpassed; accordingly ANACOM may determine the format and conditions to apply to the provision of said information to PT Comunicações as the provider of the universal service.
Interested parties have been notified of this measure, to which they may respond within a period of ten working days, in accordance with articles 100 and 101 of the Code of Administrative Procedure. Once this process has been concluded, the definitive decision will be adopted by ANACOM.
