Pre-selection termination - procedures (clarification)

It has recently been brought to the attention of this Authority that a large number of situations have arisen where there have been irregularities with respect to the procedures for pre-selection termination on public telephone networks.

Therefore, ANACOM, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation no. 1/2006 of 9 January (Selection and Pre-Selection Regulation), is issuing the following clarification:

  • The termination of pre-selection may only occur where it is based on the termination of the respective contract by the subscriber of the telephone service and where notice of such termination has been made directly to the pre-selection provider, that is, the provider with whom the contract for the provision of the pre-selection service was made.
  • The pre-selection provider shall transmit the request for pre-selection termination to the direct access provider within a maximum period of two working days.
  • The direct access provider shall terminate the service within a maximum period of five working days following the presentation of the request for termination by the pre-selection provider.
