Meeting of BEREC PT on International Roaming - Brussels

Brussels hosted last 12 March a meeting of the project team on International Roaming of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC).

Highlights of the issues covered at the meeting include the following:

  • presentation of work developed by the teams of drafters: barriers to competition and innovation, new technologies that affect roaming use, consumption survey, effects of regulation on market structure (including spill-over effects), and evaluation of post-2012 regulation needs, among others;

  • revision of preliminary results of the fifth specification model for statistical data on roaming and discussion of the BEREC report on this matter;

  • interpretation of some questions concerning transparency in roaming data service associated to the new roaming regulation, put forward by various operators and which may eventually be included in a new version of the guidelines.

This group’s next meeting should be held at the end of the second quarter of 2010, at a date and place to be announced.
