Organisational structure of the XVII Government


Decree-Law no. 79/2005, which approves the organisational structure of the XVII Constitutional Government, and Resolution of the Council of Ministers no. 82/2005, which approves the Rules of Procedure of the Council of Ministers, have been published.

At a sector-specific level, the Ministry for Public Works, Transport and Communications maintains its former name and integrates the parties, bodies and services that fell within the tutelage of the equivalent ministry of the former Government.

On the other hand, the UMIC - Agência para a Sociedade do Conhecimento (Agency for the Knowledge Society), Public Institution, and the Gabinete de Gestão e Intervenção Operacional POS - Conhecimento (Management and POS - Knowledge Operational Intervention Office) were transferred to the Ministry for Science, Technology and Higher Education. The establishment of the strategic guidelines of the UMIC and the monitoring of the respective implementation shall be incumbent upon the Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education, in conjunction with the Minister for Public Works, Transport and Communications, the Minister of State and for Internal Administration and the Minister for the Economy and Innovation.

Lastly, the Consumer Institute integrates henceforth the Ministry for the Economy and Innovation, while the ICS - Instituto da Comunicação Social (Institute for Social Communication) is now under the responsibility of the Minister for Parliament Affairs.
