Conference Preparatory Group (CPG PTC) meeting - Cork

The sixth meeting of CPG PTC was held last 26-29 January in the Irish city of Cork. This CEPT group is in charge of preparing European positions for the next ITU World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-12).

The meeting served to update the Briefs – support documents for European common proposals (ECPs) – for each of the WRC-12 agenda items under the group’s responsibility. Standing out among the various items are issues concerning aeronautic mobile service (AM(R)S), specifically regulatory conditions applicable to new systems in the 112-117.975 MHz, 960-1164 MHz and 5000-5030 MHz bands, spectrum requirements for the implementation of radiolocation service in bands between 30 MHz and 300 MHz and the question of revising Appendix 17 with respect to maritime mobile service.

Only three draft ECPs have been developed to date: for item 1.4 (issues of compatibility between aeronautic mobile service and broadcasting services in VHF, aeronautic radio-navigation and satellite radio-navigation in 108-117.975 MHz and 960-1164 MHz), item 1.10 (evaluation of spectrum requirements of maritime mobile service for vessel and port security systems) and item 1.15 (spectrum requirements for radiolocation service meant for oceanographic radar applications in the interval between 3 and 50 MHz).

This group’s next meeting will be held in April 2010.
