WG SE PT 43 meeting - Maisons-Alfort

The French city of Maisons-Alfort hosted last 13-15 January the third meeting of project team (PT) 43 of the Spectrum Engineering working group (WG SE), responsible for defining technical requirements for the operation of cognitive radio systems/equipment (CRS) in spectrum not used by digital terrestrial television (DTT) networks and emitting microphones (PMSE) in the 470-790 MHz frequency band.

The group considered 24 documents, whose subject matter can be grouped as follows:

  • Generic questions;
  • Protection requirements for victim systems (DTT and PMSE);
  • WSD characteristics: emission levels and calculation methodology;
  • Mitigation techniques to apply to CRS;
  • Free spectrum calculation.

The working group also concentrated on drawing up the necessary report and studies, with a view to achieving consensus on the scenarios to analyse and the respective parameters.

Lastly, the participants discussed the proposal sent to the STG (SEAMCAT Technical Group) concerning the implementation of new functions associated to the likelihood of interference if the interfering emitter is able to detect co-channel systems (sensing, LBT) when it is operating.
