9th meeting of WG FM PT45 - Stuttgart

The German city of Stuttgart hosted last 17-18 December the ninth meeting of project team (PT) 45 of the Frequency Management working group (WG FM). As per the mandate revised in October 2009, it is responsible for preparing various draft ECC Reports, as well as tasks deriving from the management of CEPT Plans WI95revCO07 and MA02revCO07.

One of the drafts to produce by September 2010 concerns prospects for future radio distribution via platforms envisaged for the dissemination of audio broadcasting services. Another involves the revision by April 2010 of ECC Report 117 (''Future Possibilities for Digitalisation of Band II''), currently under public consultation, with a view to including the contents of an already prepared contribution on the Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) system in the LF, MF, 26 MHz and I-VHF (47-68 MHz) bands.

Another draft concerns planning parameters for handheld reception with respect to use of the 1452-1479.5 MHz band by terrestrial mobile multimedia systems (DVB-H, FLO and T-DMB, for example), as well as terrestrial digital audio broadcasting (T-DAB). To that end, agreement was reached to include a contribution on compatibility between T-DAB and satellite digital audio broadcasting (T-DAB) in which a co-ordination threshold is proposed based on information from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
