In the performance of its mission, it is incumbent upon ICP-ANACOM to oversee the market to confirm its proper functioning and to ensure compliance with prevailing legislation and with ICP-ANACOM's own determinations. These actions are generally performed from two perspectives: preventative and reactive: preventive actions are scheduled on an annual basis and focus on sectors that give cause for concern in terms of their normal functioning; reactive actions usually arise from complaints received from consumers that indicate the existence of irregularities that warrant further investigation.
In 2012, around 1300 enforcement actions were undertaken, focusing on electronic communications services, the postal sector, audiotext services, DTT, telecommunications infrastructures in buildings and urban developments, placing equipment on the market and others actions.
