Plenary - Paris

/ Updated on 31.07.2006

The plenary session of the Independent Regulators Group (IRG) was held on 8-10 February in Paris.

The meeting saw presentation of the replies received by the IRG in the wake of the public consultations undertaken in November/December 2005, one on principles of implementation and best practices (PIB) for the application of retail minus price methodologies and another on PIB regarding the current cost accounting methodologies applied to electronic communications activities. The final versions of the documents, including the comments resulting from the public consultations, were approved.

The IRG president presented results of the informal consultation to select the IRG/ERG president for 2007 and, based on that consultation, proposed that the representative of the regulator AGCOM (Roberto Viola) be elected, which was accepted by acclamation. He also indicated that Hungary (Daniel Pataki) had also put itself forward and would be the name to present for 2008.

The next IRG meeting will be held in Vienna on 18 May 2006.
