Call for papers


The Portuguese Committee of URSI is holding its 16th congress on 25 November 2022, under the theme "Quantum Communications: What does the future hold?”.

Best Student Paper Award

ANACOM and URSI Portugal established the Best Student Paper Award with the aim of encouraging young authors to participate in scientific events and to stimulate national scientific production, promoting the dissemination of research carried out in Portugal.

The Best Student Paper Award is, therefore, a unique opportunity, which is important for the consolidation of training and the academic path, contributing to better preparation for the future challenges that young researchers will face at a professional level.

To submit an entry to this award, applicants should express their intention using the entry form provided, simultaneously with the submission of the article. ANACOM reserves the right to require confirmation of the academic status of all entries.

Interested parties are hereby invited to submit original scientific papers in the following areas:

The selected papers will be presented at the congress as a 3-5 minute pitch and later posted on ANACOM´s website.

Rules governing submission of papers

Entries must be submitted no later than 14 November 2022, by email sent to ursi.por@anacom.ptmailto:ursi.por@anacom.pt, and should have 2 to 4 complete pages in PDF format, using the IEEE template http://www.ieee.org/publications_standards/publications/authors/authors_journals.html, with two columns.

The first author will be notified as to the acceptance of the work for oral presentation.

The official language of the Congress is Portuguese, although communications in English are also accepted.

ANACOM-URSI Portugal Prize

The Portuguese Committee of URSI, sponsored by ANACOM, will also award the “ANACOM-URSI Portugal Prize” for the best research work in the areas pursued by URSI. The purpose of this prize is to stimulate creativity and rigour in scientific research work in Portugal, distinguishing the best research work in the area of radio science.

Entries must be submitted no later than 14 November 2022, by email sent to ursi.por@anacom.ptmailto:ursi.por@anacom.pt. The Prize Regulations are available for consultation on the page of the 16th Congress of the Portuguese Committee of URSI.

Award for the “Best research project in the following categories: innovation, sustainability and social responsibility”

The 16th Congress of the Portuguese Committee of URSI will also see constitution of the award “Best research project in the categories: innovation , sustainability and social responsibility".

This new award aims to encourage young students and researchers to participate in scientific events and to develop academic and research works that also contain a dimension that extends to the above categories, rewarding those who stand out the most in each category.

The prize will be awarded to the best project, developed in an academic or research context, in each of the categories, presented and defended by a student who is, at the same time, the first author of the work and presents it at a session of the Congress of the Portuguese Committee of URSI in a format to be defined.

Entries to the contest may be submitted in Portuguese or English, by sending an abstract with the following elements: keywords (up to five), project title, name(s) of the author(s), name of academic institution or research unit, name of supervisor(s), address, telephone number and e-mail address. The abstract cannot exceed 400 words.

The deadline for the submission of works is 18 November 2022. Entries may be sent, up until this deadline, to ursi.por@anacom.ptmailto:ursi.por@anacom.pt.
