On 19 February 2020, a meeting was held between the ANACOM delegation, led by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, João Cadete de Matos, and representatives of Cellnex Telecom, a Spanish operator of wireless telecommunication services and infrastructures, headed by the Executive Director, Tobias Martinez. During this meeting, a brief presentation was made of the company and its positioning in the electronic communication market, highlighting various projects underway in Europe, in particular the recent acquisition of the entire capital of OMTEL, thus enlarging the volume of infrastructures that it manages in several European countries.
The company presented its strategy of developing solutions for sharing network items, namely towers and masts, which are particularly relevant in the context of the implementation of 5G.
During the meeting, aspects related to network resilience were discussed, especially concerning fires and other disasters, as well as the safety and security of the communications.
