ANACOM holds meeting with the Secretary General of the Portuguese Episcopal Conference on the DTT migration process


On 11 March 2020, Paula Meira Lourenço, Member of the Board of Directors of ANACOM, and Ilda Matos, Press Officer, held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Portuguese Episcopal Conference, Father Manuel Barbosa, to take stock of the partnership to support the Catholic community in the DTT migration process, which started on 7 February and is now underway in the Lisbon region. The Lisbon region is served by 9 DTT transmitters, with its migration taking place between 9 and 16 March.

The relevance of the information to be conveyed to the population was also addressed at this meeting, aimed at preparing the population for this process and preventing possible situations of fraud, and likewise the contribution that could be given by the Church is this process. The provision of a free support line (800 102 002), that operates every day between 9h and 22h, to which people can call to clarify doubts and obtain support in retuning their television, as well as the existence of teams in the field that can help with retuning when people are unable to do so with the assistance provided through the telephone line, were also discussed at the meeting.

It should be recalled that in this process it is not necessary to replace or redirect the antenna, change the TV or set top box, and no-one will need to subscribe to paid television services.
