Vacancy for Chair of Scientific Commission G of the Portuguese Committee of URSI


Applications for the position of Chair of Commission G - Ionospheric radio-electricity and propagation (including ionospheric communications and remote sensing of ionized media) - of the Portuguese Committee of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI) may be submitted until 30 June 2017. The mandate, which is non-remunerated, has a duration of 4 years and may be renewed.

The Chair of each scientific commission is responsible for promoting the activities of the commission, disseminating the initiatives of URSI and of the Portuguese Committee, encouraging the presentation of articles at the National Congress, the General Assemblies of URSI and the URSI Atlantic Radio Science Conference. The position also entails developing a network of correspondents, consisting of Portuguese researchers or researchers working in Portugal for more than a year, with activity in the respective scientific or research area, in order to analyse the actions to be proposed to the Portuguese Committee of URSI and report to their peers on the activities of the URSI Commissions.

ANACOM is currently the national institution affiliated with URSI, exercising oversight over the National Committee and its specialist Commissions, assuming the position of Chair of the Portuguese Committee of URSI.

The members of the Portuguese Committee of URSI are the Chair, the Secretary and the Chairs of the national scientific commissions, representatives of Portuguese organisations with scientific activities in the area of URSI's work.
