Assignment of a new code ("257") to identify the geographical area of Braga in the PNN - consultation

By determination of 17 March 2017, ANACOM has approved a draft decision to open a new code ("257") in the PNN - Plano Nacional de Numeração (National Numbering Plan) identifying the geographical area of Braga. The code is assigned to the publicly available telephone service at a fixed location. Blocks of 10,000 numbers will be allocated to this code as the availability of numbering blocks in the "253" code is exceeded; the corresponding rights of use will be allocated to providers of the service according to objective, transparent and non-discriminatory criteria.

In order to anticipate the potential exhaustion of geographic numbers in the Braga area, ANACOM considers it necessary and fitting to provide additional numbering capacity in the PNN to cover this geographical area. This ensures sustainability in the provision of the publicly available telephone service at a fixed location in the region and allows timely operational planning by providers.

It was also decided to submit this draft decision to the prior hearing of interested parties under articles 121 et seq. of Código do Procedimento Administrativo (Administrative Proceeding Code), as well as to the general consultation procedure laid down in article 8 of Lei das Comunicações Eletrónicas (Electronic Communications Law - Law no. 5/2004 of 10 February, in its present form). A period of 20 working days is provided under both procedures for interested parties to comment (comments in writing and in Portuguese).

As such, comments in response to the public consultation should be sent by email to pnn.geo.braga@anacom.ptmailto:pnn.geo.braga@anacom.pt1 no later than 19 April 2017. Once the consultation process has been concluded, the contributions received will be made public. Therefore, for the purposes of publication on this website, interested parties should also submit a non-confidential version of their responses excluding items considered confidential.
