ECC WG NaN meeting - Brussels


Brussels hosted last 22-24 November a meeting of the EC working group on Numbering and Networks (WG NaN). Regulators participate in this working group, which debates matters of common interest concerning numbering and the impact of technological developments on regulation of the electronic communications sector, and especially the development of harmonised criteria for allocating and using national and international numbering resources.

As a result of this meeting, final approval of the following document after the respective public consultation stands out:

  • Report ECC 255 – “The use of Assisted-Global Navigation Satellite System (A-GNSS) capabilities to improve caller location information for emergency calls originating on mobile devices”.

The following documents were also approved to be subject to public consultation:

  • ECC Report – “Feasibility Report: An ECO-hosted directory of E.164 numbers to facilitate contact between PSAPs in different European countries”;
  • ECC Report – “Migration from PSTN/ISDN to IP-based networks and regulatory aspects”;
  • ECC Recommendation – “Harmonised Assignment and Management Principles for E.212 Mobile Network Codes”.

After fulfilling the established ECC procedures these documents will be posted on the CEPT website at WG NaN adopts 1 new deliverable and approves 3 draft deliverables for public consultation in Brussels http://www.cept.org/ecc/groups/ecc/wg-nan/news/wg-nan-adopts-1-new-deliverable-and-approves-3-draft-deliverables-for-public-consultation-in-brussels. Interested parties can respond within the set deadlines and directly to the European Communications Office (ECO) contact point indicated at that address.

The next meeting of this working group will take place in May 2017.
